Arojowiggins Creative Paper Viral ( D&AD )

This was the outcome for our Arjoviggins brief for D&AD. It was created along with designer and friend Andrew Lovell, also studying at Hull School of Art and Design. The brief was to create a viral advert promoting their creative paper range which would inspire designers to get involved and use Arjowiggins paper.

We decided that we would create a short movie made entirely from paper that would serve as the promotional viral to the brief. The animation towards the end of the video was the introduction to our outcome of involving other designers to take part. The animation was made just using samples of Arjowiggins paper to give the unique textures and colours shown. We stated that this would only be the first part of a long running animation and asked other designers/creatives to download our hypothetical swatch packs to continue the story as they saw fit, which would lead to one totally individual animation that they could be a part of.

This style and scale of animation is something that neither of us had ever done before but we were very pleased with the outcome. The photographing of the set alone took us 28 hours over 3 days, but was certainly worth it! Bring on the yellow pencil.

Winter and Summer

Hugh Gordon Poster

This poster was created for cinematographer, Hugh Gordon who worked on films including the animation Peter and the Wolf. The poster was created as part of the Visiting Lecturer Series he was speaking at Hull School of Art and Design. The design should have taken an hour but instead took 3 days after deciding to go all out and make a model of him in the style of Peter and the Wolf. (Designed in partnership with Steven Robertson).

A Bright Night

An experimentation of colour and aperture inspired by the work of Alexey Titarenko.

Contrast

Illustrating the word contrast using laser cut letters and photographing them from different angles using light at different positions to create shadows and contrast. The reflection also adds some depth and relates to the word contrast.
